Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Manager

Direct Supervisor:  Vice President of Engineering

Required Skills

  • Efficient in 2-D AutoCAD (AutoCAD/Inventor 3-D experience preferred)
  • Detailed system/component design practices (Conveyor experience preferred)
  • Design Calculations (i.e. drive sizing, machine elements, structural elements, etc.)
  • Generate engineering requisitions
  • Documentation Control
  • Field Engineering
  • Drawing Checking

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and direct projects. Making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities with assigned mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Analyze technology and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Plan the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Direct, review, and approve product desgin and changes.
  • Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Review budget, and subcontracts, and direct engineering subcontracors.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
  • Check designs and drawings for accuracy and compliance to company/industry standards.
  • Interface with Electrical Engineering to verify equipment requirements.
  • Schedule and attend design review meetings.
  • Attend customer meetings and travel to job sites as necessary.
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Purchasing, Vendors and Suppliers.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years relevant engineering experience
  • Mechanical or Science Degree in Engineering

Job Description: Mechanical Project Engineer

Direct Supervisor:  Mechanical Engineering Manager

Required Skills

  • Experience in detailed system and component mechanical design (conveyor experience preferred)
  • Proficient 2-D AutoCAD experience is required
  • SolidWorks or Inventor 3-D design experience preferred (FEA is a plus).
  • The ability to quickly concept cost effective solutions to a customer’s requirements/changes
  • Ability to perform design calculations (i.e. drive sizing, machine elements, structural elements, etc.)
  • Preparing Excel spreadsheets – capable of writing formulas
  • Must be well organized and have a keen sense of urgency
  • Able to prioritize several concurrent projects in order to meet schedule milestones
  • Generate engineering release requisitions

  • Knowledge of structural steel elements, material handling and production systems
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Direct Supervisor:  Electrical Engineering Manager

Required Skills 

  • Thorough understanding of 24v DC, 120v AC, 240v AC, and 480v AC electrical circuits, in both single and three phase.
  • Thorough understanding of VFD motor controls.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Ability to be a great team player who works well with our customers, company management and the project team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to travel within North America including Mexico up to 25% of the time

Job Description: Project Manager

Direct Supervisor: Director of Projects

FATA Automation, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to oversee conveyor projects.  It is a full-time position with an anticipated 10 – 20% travel requirement.  This is a salary position.

Job Duties

  • Oversee multiple conveyor projects (mostly Automotive industry).
  • Generate and track Change Order Requests for added scope on projects
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft project
  • Develop and maintain project Schedule of Values.  Obtain Owner approval for monthly billings and ensure FATA Accounts payable has proper data to submit an invoice.
  • Generate and maintain Open Issues lists on a weekly basis and publish to Customer / FATA internal project teams.
  • Generate Requests for Quote for major installation subcontractors, obtain and validate their pricing, and issue purchase requisitions to FATA Purchasing.
  • Oversee FATA Site Managers during installation phase of the project.  Travel to jobsite as necessary to accomplish this.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • A minimum 5 years Project Management experience in the Conveyor industry
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fields
  • Solid communication skills.

Job Description: Technical Writer / Trainer

Direct Supervisor: Technology & Communications Department Manager

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer/Trainer for our Technology & Documentation Department team who has a flair for transforming complex technical information into clear and engaging content. This position requires a blend of expertise to support the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of our many deliverables for our employees and our customers including conveyance products, maintenance manuals, recommended spare parts and training material.

Position Overview:

The Technical Writer/Trainer plays a vital role in bridging the gap between complex technical information and user-friendly documentation and training materials. This professional is responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate content that helps users understand and utilize technical products or services effectively, explaining complex information in a user-friendly manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Writing:

  • Develop, write, and maintain clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation, including but not limited to standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance and training manuals, recommended spare parts, process flow charts, work instructions, presentations, and reports.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and company requirements.
  • Review and edit existing technical documents for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical information and incorporate feedback into documentation.
  • Continuously assess and enhance existing content to improve user experience and knowledge retention.

Training & Support:

  • Provide training and support for team members and customers on subjects ranging from safety training to “how to” maintenance procedures for conveyance deliverables.
  • Some travel to customer locations to provide training.

Technology & Communications Support:

  • Work on various other projects and tasks assigned by the Technology & Communications Department Manager, including but not limited to other documentation support needs and participation in community outreach activities (i.e. – Manufacturing Day).

Qualifications:

Educational Background and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in fields such as Engineering, Liberal Arts, Technical Communication, Education, or related areas.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years in technical writing or a similar role. This experience should demonstrate the candidate’s capability in creating clear, detailed, and concise documentation.

Skill Set

  • Communication and Writing
    • Written and Verbal Skills: The candidate should possess strong communication abilities, enabling them to write clearly and effectively convey information.
    • Documentation Skills: Experience in developing technical documents that are easy to understand for various audiences.
  • Technical Proficiency
    • Writing Tools: Proficiency in using tools – Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with QR Coding, WordPress, and Autodesk products such as Fusion, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Navisworks is preferred.
  • Industry and Technical Knowledge
    • Material Handling Industry: Experience in this field is highly desirable, especially if it involves working with engineering teams to enhance user experience, refine content, and create visuals and diagrams for technical support.
    • Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications is necessary.
  • Additional Skills
    • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail are vital for maintaining high-quality standards.
    • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and mechanical problem-solving skills are important for identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
    • Multi-Tasking: Ability to effectively multi-task or handling different activities simultaneously.
    • Collaboration and Independence: The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
    • Photography, Video Recording and Editing: Experience in photography, video recording and editing is a plus.
